Here’s Honda of Cleveland Heights’ guide to the latest models of the CR-V and the Civic, two of Honda’s most popular vehicles.
Exterior Features

The 2022 Honda CR-V boasts the athletic body that made this midsize SUV famous. Exterior features on the base trim include remote entry, halogen lights, and a roof antenna. Higher trim levels come with privacy glass, LED lights, and heated mirrors that have turn signal lights on them to help you communicate in heavy traffic. There are eight available paint colors: Aegean Blue Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Radiant Red Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Sonic Gray Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, and Obsidian Blue Pearl.
The 2022 Honda Civic is a sedan with modern styling and sharp angles. All trims come with LED lights and a roof antenna. Higher trims feature more advanced exterior mirrors on this model, too, with heating and turn signals on the most luxurious versions. It also comes in eight colors. Like the CR-V, you can choose Lunar Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Aegean Blue Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, or Sonic Gray Pearl. Unique to the Civic are three colors: Rallye Red, Meteorite Gray Metallic, and Morning Mist Metallic.
Interior Features
Known for its versatility and family-friendly nature, it’s no surprise that the CR-V boasts a roomy backseat and trunk for passengers and cargo. With 41.3 inches of legroom and 55.1 inches of hip room, your friends and family can relax in the back. The truck’s cargo capacity is 39.2 cubic feet on nonhybrid models and 33.2 cubic feet on hybrid models. Interior features like foot mats, front and rear beverage holders, and storage compartments come standard on all CR-V models. All trims above the base trim come with heated front seats, and leather trim comes standard on the highest models.
Smaller than the CR-V, the Civic offers less cargo capacity but plenty of room for passengers. Most trims of the Civic offer 14.8 cubic feet of cargo space, except for the top Touring trim, which has 14.4 cubic feet. All trims give passengers 42.3 inches of legroom and 54.3 inches of hip room, which are comparable to the CR-V. Like the CR-V, standard interior features include automatic climate control, power locks, and flow mats. Luxurious touches like lighting on vanity mirrors, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated, leather-trimmed seats come standard on the higher trims.
Engine and Performance
All trims of the latest CR-V come standard with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It offers 190 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque, making it powerful enough to adventure in without sacrificing everyday efficiency. With this engine, the CR-V gets up to 28 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined. You could also opt for a hybrid engine, bringing the horsepower down to 143 and the torque down to 129 pound-feet. The hybrid offers an impressive 40 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 38 mpg combined.
The 2022 Civic also comes with a four-cylinder inline engine, but it’s only turbocharged on the top two trims, EX and Touring. The standard Civic engines bring 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while the turbocharged engines reach 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. There isn’t currently a hybrid option of the Civic available in the United States.
Lightweight and fun, the sedan is a great option for drivers who prioritize fuel economy. The Civic’s base trim, the LX, gets 31 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 35 mpg combined, while the Sport trim gets 30 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg combined. The EX reaches 33 mpg in the city, 42 mpg on the highway, and 36 mpg combined, and the top trim, the Touring, gets 31 mpg in the city, 38 mpg on the highway, and 34 mpg combined.
Technology
The CR-V’s base trim, the LX, comes with four speakers and a 5-inch LED infotainment screen. All other trims have a 7-inch screen and between six and nine speakers. All models have Bluetooth capability, and all trims other than the LX are compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The top trims have charging ports so you and your passengers can keep your phones powered on, and Touring models come with wireless charging.
The Civic’s base trim also comes with four speakers. Unlike the CR-V, all models get a 7-inch screen except for the Touring, which has a larger 9-inch screen. Middle trims have eight speakers, while the Touring has an advanced 12-speaker system with a subwoofer. All trims are compatible with Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, and like the CR-V, Touring models have wireless charging.
Safety
Both the 2022 CR-V and the 2022 Civic come equipped with Honda’s suite of clever and modern safety features. These two vehicles include safety tech tools like:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System.
- Lane management.
- Collision alerts.
- Adaptive cruise control.
- Road departure warnings.
- Anti-lock brakes.
- Tire pressure monitoring.
- Traction control.
- A rearview camera.
The Civic adds road sign recognition and traffic jam assist to help you navigate busy streets, and an alert system notifies you when you’ve left a passenger in the rear seat. The top trims of both vehicles include technology to help you catch vehicles in your blind spot before you move lanes.
